Cookie Policy

Overview

This page lists everything ChatIFA stores on your device — cookies, localStorage, or similar technologies — why we store it, how long it lives, and whether it's essential. It covers both the authenticated dashboard at chatifa.co.uk and the chat widget embedded on customer websites.

ChatIFA does not set any advertising, tracking, or third-party marketing cookies. We do not share or sell any of this data. The analytics we use are cookieless and don't identify individual visitors.

Dashboard (chatifa.co.uk)

NameTypePurposeLifetimeEssential?
chatifa_tokenlocalStorageYour sign-in token. Used to authenticate requests to the API on your behalf.Until sign-out or expiryYes
chatifa_userlocalStorageYour basic account details (id, email, admin flag) used to render the dashboard.Until sign-outYes
chatifa_cookie_notice_acklocalStorageRemembers that you've dismissed the notice banner at the bottom of the page.Until clearedNo (preference)

The dashboard does not set any cookies of its own. Sign-in uses a token stored in localStorage. We also load a privacy-friendly analytics script from our own subdomain — it doesn't set cookies and counts pageviews in aggregate only.

Chat widget (on customer websites)

The chat widget doesn't set any cookies. It uses localStorage so the conversation state stays on the visitor's device and doesn't follow them across websites.

NamePurposeLifetimeEssential?
chatifa_session_<site>Links follow-up messages to the same conversation thread.Until clearedYes
chatifa_open_<site>Remembers whether the chat panel was left open between page loads.Until clearedNo (preference)
chatifa_action_<site>Stores a pending contact form so it survives a page reload.Until cleared or submittedNo (preference)
chatifa_consent_<site>Remembers that you've dismissed the processing notice inside the widget.Until clearedNo (preference)

How to disable or clear these

You can clear both cookies and localStorage at any time from your browser's settings. For Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, look under Privacy & Security → Cookies and site data or similar.

Clearing the dashboard's chatifa_token localStorage item will sign you out. Clearing any of the widget keys on a customer site will reset the conversation — you'll start a new session the next time you open the chat.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if we add or change cookies. See also our Privacy Policy and Sub-processor list for more on how we handle data.
