ChatIFA is a lead generation and information tool, not a regulated financial adviser. The AI does not provide personal recommendations, suggest specific products, or give advice on what a visitor should do with their money.

Every conversation includes a clear, permanent disclaimer stating that responses are generated by AI and are not financial advice. This disclaimer cannot be removed, hidden, or modified by the account holder. It is built into the widget at a structural level.

If a visitor asks a question that would require regulated advice to answer properly, the AI will explain that they should speak to a qualified adviser directly and offer to collect their contact details so your firm can follow up.

Data

Your data, your control

ChatIFA is fully compliant with UK GDPR. You own your data. We process it on your behalf to provide the service, and we do not sell, share, or use it for any other purpose.

You can export your conversation data and lead information from the dashboard at any time. If you close your account, we delete all your data within 30 days. You can also request immediate deletion by contacting us.

Website visitor data is minimal. The chat widget does not use cookies. It uses localStorage to maintain the conversation session, which means visitors are not tracked across websites. No personal data is collected unless a visitor voluntarily shares it during conversation.

Boundaries

What the AI can and cannot do

The AI can only use content that is already published on your website. It reads your service pages, team bios, blog posts, and FAQ content, then answers visitor questions based on what it finds. It cannot access external data, financial databases, or any information you have not made public.

The AI cannot give personalised financial advice, recommend specific products or providers, make guarantees about investment performance, or provide tax calculations. These are hard limits built into the system, not guidelines that can be overridden.

If the AI does not have enough information from your website to answer a question, it says so honestly and suggests the visitor get in touch with your firm directly. It will never fabricate information to fill a gap.

You can add custom instructions to guide the AI's behaviour. For example, you can tell it to always mention that initial consultations are free, or to direct pension questions to a specific adviser in your firm. These instructions shape the conversation without compromising compliance.

Every conversation is logged in your dashboard with a full transcript. You or your compliance officer can review any chat at any time. This gives you an audit trail that shows exactly what the AI said and what information visitors received.
